sitey lends you a name — myapp.sitey.my and the like — and the DNS behind it. These are the rules that come with it.

1. What a name here may not be used for

  • Malware — hosting it, pointing at it, or publishing a contact point for it (a command server address in a TXT record counts)
  • Phishing — pages that pretend to be a bank, an exchange, a wallet, a mail provider or any other service in order to collect passwords, keys or payments
  • Spam — sending it, or using a name here as the link or the sender in it
  • Illegal content — anything unlawful where you or we are
  • Impersonating a person or an organisation you are not

2. We may take a name down without notice

If a name is used for anything in section 1, or we have good reason to think it is, we may remove the record, block the owner, the owner token or the address it came from, and refuse new records from them — without warning and without first asking you. Speed matters more here than process: a phishing page does its damage in hours.

If you think we got it wrong, tell us through the report page and we will look again.

3. Names are lent, not given

  • With an account, a name is lent for three months and can be renewed.
  • Without an account, a name is lent for one month. A name that is not renewed by then may be removed.
  • Every response from the API carries expires_at. Renewal opens two weeks before it.

4. What needs an account

To make abuse harder, some things are only open to an account (an API key from the dashboard counts):

  • TXT records
  • Pointing a name at a temporary tunnel (trycloudflare.com, ngrok and the like)
  • Names containing words such as login, wallet or verify

Names containing the names of well-known brands (banks, exchanges, big platforms) are refused for everyone.

5. No guarantee

sitey is offered as it is. We work to keep it up, but we do not promise that it will always be available, and we are not liable for what happens when it is not.

6. Reporting abuse

Anyone can report a name, with no account: sitey.my/abuse.

7. Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed.
